Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE®)

Maintaining a strong grassroots presence in the political process is key to the long-term strength and success of the electric cooperative program and the communities we serve. You can strengthen our political presence by being a member of the ACRE® Co-op Owners for Political Action, the political action committee of the nation's electric cooperatives.

About ACRE®

Founded in 1966 by approximately 1,000 consumer-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperatives of NRECA, ACRE® supports candidates for the US House and Senate (those in office now and running for office) who will speak for and protect the interests of electric cooperatives and their consumer-owners.

ACRE is backed by over 30,000 eligible employees, directors, managers, and consumer-owners of electric cooperatives across 47 states, making it a truly grassroots Political Action Committee (PAC). ACRE supports candidates who understand that our energy must be safe and our electricity costs must remain affordable.

What is a Political Action Committee?

A Political Action Committee (PAC) is a group of people with common goals or interests who pool their money to support candidates running for state or federal office. PACs support political candidates who support the interests of their members.

How Do I Make a Difference?

One way to be involved with elected officials is through joining ACRE. Joining ACRE is an easy way for electric cooperative members to stay informed on important issues, play an active role as citizens and take part in making sure that their cooperatives voice remains strong at the national and the state level.

Grassroots activity can support candidates that promote reliable and affordable electricity, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and economic growth.
